While a background in law enforcement or military is not required of applicants, it certainly establishes a strong foundation for career success at HSS, as they often desire to continue serving others. They understand our customers’ expectation for excellent service and program quality, and they bring a high level of professionalism to all levels of the company.
Military Highlight:
Antrail Caston
Program Manager, Alameda Health System
For 22 years in the US Marine Corps, SEMPER FIDELIS was my life, my passion, and my career. As a Master Sergeant, I was responsible for the recruitment, training, and leadership of elite tactical teams. The Corps armed me with the abilities I would need to find a niche within the private security sector, and in 2015 I joined HSS as a Healthcare Security Program Manager in 2015. I strode forward confident that the skills I honed wearing my USMC uniform would earn me stripes once again. And they have! I am honored to say that I am as faithful to HSS as I am to this great country.
Law Enforcement Highlight:
Alan Butler, CHPA
Senior Vice President of Healthcare Security
The practice of law enforcement ensures community members act within the bounds set by government for their safety. My history as a corporal with Dallas Police Department taught me the critical nuances of enforcement vs. engagement. And at HSS, we rely on our officers to “engage,” using empathy, intellect, and discretion to make the world a safer place. Having served both as a police officer and a security professional, in many ways I wish I could have experienced the world of HSS before my time on the force, as the skill to engage first and enforce last always creates a better outcome.
