HSS iLEAD™ Program History
The need and desire to more formally invest in our employees has been recognized and in process for some time- particularly because we are committed to promoting from within when possible. To focus in the right areas initially, we conducted a formal 2008 study to identify which leadership competencies were most critical for various HSS leadership levels and determined where the significant gaps in skills / knowledge existed. During this time, we also developed a corresponding learning strategy about how best to address the gaps.
In 2009, we heard further from employees (via an employee survey) about what mattered most to them and where they perceived the critical development needs to be. To begin addressing the gaps, we invested in the development of two inaugural leadership development programs (the 200-Fundamentals and 300-Fundamentals learning series) and selected / established a learning technology platform (our Learning Management System (LMS)). The LMS will house individual training and development plans per person and will track everyone’s progress against their plan. It will also provide learners with access to relevant computer-based training (often called either CBTs or eLearning).
