HSS Industry Contributions

HSS, the leading healthcare security provider in the U.S., has been raising the standard of protection in hospitals and the healthcare industry since 1972. One of the ways we work to raise standards is by serving as subject matter experts for industry publications and taking lead roles in industry organizations such as Joint Commission Resources, IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety), and ASIS International, the preeminent organization for security professionals. Active participation in these organizations enables HSS to identify, adopt, and share best security practices from across the nation with customers that benefit them in areas such as compliance, patient and staff safety, risk assessment, and cost savings. These HSS leaders are currently chairing or serving on key industry committees:

  • Tony York, Senior Vice President, Security Division, is Chair of the IAHSS Council on Guidelines and a member of the IAHSS Design Guidelines for New Hospital Construction and Renovation Task Force.  He is a Past President of IAHSS.
  • Dean Sobcoviak, Vice President, Security Division-Western Region, is Vice Chair of the ASIS Healthcare Security Council.
  • Tracy Buchman, National Director, Healthcare Emergency Management, is a member of the IAHSS Emergency Management Task Force.
  • Mike Siedzick, Regional Director of Operations, serves on the IAHSS Council on Membership.
  • Eric Smith, Security Director for Exempla Healthcare, will be the 2012 Chair of the Colorado Chapter of IAHSS.

Members of the Healthcare Security Division are widely regarded for their industry knowledge and expertise and are often contacted by industry media (print, broadcast, and online) to comment on security and safety issues affecting the healthcare industry.
