HSS Security Program Manager John Fisher (left) congratulates Shift Supervisor James Kesterson on his Halos for Heroes award

Kicking off the new year with a note of gratitude, on January 1, The Pueblo (Colo.) Chieftain published an appreciative Letter to the Editor from a resident near St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo. The hospital’s HSS security staff helped the neighbor following a theft, and she expressed her appreciation for this “unexpected gift” not only to hospital administrators but also to the local paper: “These men and women acted professionally, courteously, and fearlessly to deal with a crime that did not even occur on St. Mary-Corwin property….I can think of no greater gift than the courage and caring shown by all the people involved in this event.”

For his role catching the man HSS Security Program Manager John Fisher calls the “Christmas present thief,” Fisher nominated Shift Supervisor James Kesterson to receive HSS’s PRIDE Champion award. St. Mary-Corwin honored Kesterson with its Halos for Heroes award for world-class service: “We want to thank James and the rest of the HSS security team here at St. Mary-Corwin, who tirelessly keep our associates and our neighbors safe each and every day.”
